The City of Aalborg |
With more than 160.000 inhabitants, Aalborg is the fourth largest City in Denmark and further the regional capital of Northern Jutland. It is situated at the picturesque Limfjord and you reach some of the most beautiful beaches within half and hour.
The history of Aalborg can be traced back more than 1,000 years. Settled by Vikings, who because of their trading activities desired a location on Limfjorden, the straight dividing Jutland into two parts. Aalborg's name is first mentioned in the 11th century, and in 1342 the town received a municipal charter. Over the years, the city has developed into one of the busiest trading centers of Denmark. Activity and prosperity left their marks on the city's architecture, and many of the old buildings still function as natural elements in the townscape.
